I've got an idea. Let's go back to the "decade from hell". The real problem here is that people didn't suffer enough. There wasn't enough upheavel. The system worked. Consequently people didn't have to face reality. The right wing can lie like never before. Denial is the order of the day. Don't like reality? Turn on Fox News or talk radio. Sometimes things have to get worse before they can get better. This may be one of those times.
